an open minded employee of the BBC

I've always enjoyed the BBC, not because they are unbiased, rather because it presents a different view on American politics than what i see everyday. However, they do tend to be a bit biased, but i came across an article today that amazed me. THE BBC NOW HAS SOMEONE WHO'S OPEN MINDED ON THEIR PAYROLL! Check out his article at the BBC website. I wrote him something in return, and for those of you too lazy to read his very short article here's the pink monkey version. If Democrats don't come out on top over this Foley issue, then they suck and are gonna suck for a while. They're either not doing a good job of getting their ideas to the American people or their ideas suck or both......here's what i wrote.......

I finally can say that the BBC has someone on the payroll with an open mind. Whether this post will be read or not, i still applaud you sir. The Democrats have not been able to prove to the American people that their policies will work. Too many of their policies and ideas are idealistic, and differ heavily from the tendencies of the American voter. However, this collaboration by the Democrats to postpone this 'scandal' prior to elections and the admitted timing of Mr. Woodward's new book may finally reveal their new strategy. As one blogger once plainly put it, 'if we can't make ourselves look good, we'll make them look bad.' It is so unfortunate that the blatant bias in the media would place Democratic strategists in this position; a position where it's easier to use the media tool against the Republicans than to simply adjust to the views of the voters. The only policy decisions you here coming out of Washington have GOP written all over them, the Democratic Party needs change. The Republican Party needs a wake up call; they've been in power so long that some of their own have become complacent. This disgusting act of electronic immorality is a shame; a shame that a party with the 'legislative trust' could knowingly allow this to happen. Once the warning signs were present, it should have been dealt with swiftly to avoid this October surprise. However this one turns out, this is one Republican amazed that the BBC finally has someone with an open mind.

Well... considering I'm amongst the masses that pay the tv licence to keep the bbc running, I'd sincerely hope there are more than just the one reporter that's got an open mind!

I'm not really sure how I would handle the Foley affair if I was a Democratic congressman (other than the one running for his seat; wherein I would "handle it" by cracking open some champagne and dancing down the street in glee.)

There is really no "policy issue" involved. What he did was already ethically and morally wrong--and I am going to go out on a limb here and say, "although PROBABLY not illegal." (Unless he really messed up and violated a consent statute in some state which I haven't seen yet. Hopefully for his sake he didn't type anything FROM OR TO FLORIDA, which has a relatively high age of consent of 18.)

But it is just another event of having to have HUMANS in a particular position, just like we have HUMAN doctors and HUMAN cops--so we need a ton of checks and balances on them because they have so much power.
