Well, I must say "wow". I'm really impressed about the last comment you posted to my blog. I must say I didn't expect it, problably because of some strange stereotypes I have about americans. My humble apologys about that.
And yes, I didn't quite get that you were joking or something. Since Estonians have been persecuted, harassed etc. over the centuries, we tend to take things like "speak, write in english" bit too seriously. Kind a like someone would tell us to let go of our identity, or culture, or even our own country. Things that we have fought for long time.
So naturally the first thing that comes in mind when one sees a comment like yours is "defense".
Sry about that. I'm glad that we got it straight, just a joke :)
Most younger generation Estonians speak English freely, and least one other foreign language, but usually even more. We are very open for other cultures, though it might not look like so on first impression.
My blog is in Estonian because it's the easyest way to write for me and I never thought that it might interest anybody from outside of the range of 1,4 million Estonians. I still have no idea, how you came by my blog at the first place (?)
Anyway, thanks for comments and discussion. I'll edit my profile and write there taht anyone who wants to communicate with me in English can do so. But blog stays Estonian :)
PS. I don't think the humorsense is too different, I quite liked the "carlos loves America" :) If it was ment to be funny...
